The Versatility of Natural Hair: Roller Set / Rolos en el Cabello Rizado

Hola chicas, this fall-winter season I will be focusing on the versatility of natural hair, for that reason I will be bringing you different styles. Natural hair is all about playing, having fun and enjoying what mother nature gave us.
It's Roller time

I washed, conditioned and detangled my hair.
I applied leave-in conditioner all over my hair, so I can easily part and work through.
I decided (before starting) what side I wanted my hair to fall on.
I mixed the products all together to make the process a lot easier: Koko du Lait leave-in by Tukka Naturals, Curl love Moisture Milk by Camille Rose and Smooth Down heat glide by Redken
Then just part your hair in sections about 2" wide: Comb, pull, roll and secure.

I used a hair net to keep my rollers in place, then 45 to one hour under the hair drier I go. DO NOT -repeat- DO NOT take your roller set down until they are completely dry.

Scarf from Hearts.com
How to make your roller set last longer?
  • Don't comb through it
  • Try pinning up at night.
  • Do not use water base products to moisturize your hair.

Roller Set / Rolos en el cabello rizo

No wonder why I am in love with my Natural hair, I mean, the versatility of it is just amazing. Last weekend I did a roller set and here are some pictures of my results. I also have a Tutorial on my Youtube channel, it is in spanish but I only speak for the first one minute or so, lol.

Products I used :
Beautiful texture Leave-in
Curls Unleashed Mousse.
Shea Moisture Reconstructive Elixir.

The most important part of a successful roller set is to let it dry completely before taking them down.

My natural Bang DIY/ Mi pollina, copete, Flequillo en cabello rizo.

Ohhh Yeah after seeing so many natural women with bangs I decided to do one, by my self...yes, this is not a typo error, no, I did it myself... The right thing to do is to go a beauty stylist, but if you: a) are a tight budget or b) you are completely crazy or a combination of both -like me-  do it yourself, here are some important tips to follow..

  • Detangle and style your hair.
  • Wait until your hair gets really, really dry. We know our hair shrinks, right? Exactly, so if you cut your bangs while wet , your final result will be a mystery..
  • Cut it at the beginning of each curls spiral.
  • Enjoy..... "Curly Girls have more Fun"

It is possible to have perfect curls In the Caribbean weather? / Rizos perfectos en el caribe.

traveling with curly hair can be quite a challenge, Variation in the weather can possibly ruin any type of hair, especially if your hair will be exposed to extremely hot weather. Every time I travel to the Caribbean my hair tends to get a little dry and in the summer month can be quite a challenge. Summer fun comes with dry hair and sometimes even break. If you live in tropical weather or are traveling there, you need to focus on properly hydrate your hair and your whole body.

Follow these Tips with me to achieve a perfect Tropical  curly hair:
  • Take Vitamin C it is a great antioxidant, that  not just helps your hair follicles through nutrition and rebuilding damaged cells, it also helps the entire body stop or avoid the development of dangerous cancer cells.
  • Use only lukewarm or cool water to wash your hair instead of  hot water; the temperature of the water aggravates the effects of the weather and could strip off your hair’s natural moisture.
  • Use a mild Shampoo, sulfate free is the best option.
  • wash your hair right after getting in the pool or the beach.
  • Add some droops of oil to your shampoo and even to your conditioner.
  • A light daily leave in is a must do.
  • drink plenty water.
  • Good luck, lol

My first (successful) natural Hair Cartoon ? Mi primera (exitosa) caricatura

I am very passionate about drawing in all it forms, I found it a very high form of art and since the first time I went Natural I wanted a drawing or a cartoon. I had a first attended to do a cartoon at a local art walk and after staying still for almost 10 min, that is a lot to me I can't be quiet for a minute, my cartoon looked nothing like me; he said it is very hard for me to draw curly hair, helloooo why you didn't say so at the beginning?

So I was at Universal studio Hollywood and after a few thinking and talking to the guy I decided to do my cartoon, first of course I asked  him: Can you draw curly hair? he wasn't so sure about it, I guess he doesn't have to many big hair costumers, he said yes, with a doubly face, so I said: well if my hair doesn't look like "my hair" I won't pay...And this is how I got my first "successful" Cartoon...

What do you think? does it looks like me?
(See step by step photo, down)
