Oily Sweet Hair Mask / Dulce y Aceitosa mascarilla para el cabello

This is one of the easiest and more nourished conditioners ever,  I always apply my natural hair mask and conditioners on dry hair before shampoo, what we call Pre-poo.
Ingredients:
  • Coconut oil:  coconut oil nourishes dry and brittle hair, encourages healthy hair growth, prevents hair loss, promotes a healthy scalp, and relieves dandruff. It provides the essential proteins required to nourish dry, damaged hair and rejuvenates the hair very quickly.
  • Honey:  It contains mild alpha hydroxy acids, such as gluconic acid. These acids increase elasticity, and balance out oily skin, in addition, the sugar content in honey makes it an excellent humectant.
  • Plastic container (optional)
Preparation:
Mix equal parts of honey and Coconut oil according to your hair length, for a better mix and application  heat the ingredients in the microwave; the honey will become liquid making it really easy to work it throughout your hair.
At this moment you can pour the mix in your applicator bottle and apply it on your hair from roots to ends. for better results use a conditioner cap or as I do go for a run and let your natural heat increase the benefits of this amazing conditioner.
Leave it on for 30 min. to 1 hour, style as usual

Spring curls ready DIY hair mask / Preparando nuestros rizos para la primavera ; hecho en casa.

In Spring, there’s a transition from the dryness of winter to the moisture from the rain and the impending humidity of the summer. I would back down from the heavier conditioners using lighter ones. Begin to protect the hair from the increased expose to the sun. Keep the cuticle sealed, so it won’t absorb the moisture in the air.

For this DIY mask you will need plain yogurt, Mayonnaise and egg white. This conditioner can soften dull hair and add life to it.

Why these ingredients?
Yogurt:Yogurt is associated with the term "probiotics", which means "that which supports and is for life"! Yogurt is a dairy product that is obtained by fermenting milk. This fermentation uses bacteria to transform milk which is a liquid into yogurt which is semi-solid in nature. Yogurt is a proven treasure-trove of enriching elements like zinc, calcium, lactic acid, Vitamins B1, B2, B-6 and B-12, protein, and yeast. It holds rich deposits of friendly bacteria that boost overall health as well as that of the hair and skin. Yogurt has a multitude of benefits that will surely work wonders for your hair and skin problems.
Its perfect to use a  conditioner base, and is also a gentle cleanser. Yogurt promotes hair growth, and makes it easy to comb hair, get rid of knots and prevent frizzy hair.
All these benefits will be double good if you also make yogurt part of your diet "beauty inside out"

Egg:
Raw eggs contain a significant concentration of essential proteins and nutrients. Because of the high protein content, eggs can be used to strengthen hair follicles. Likewise, the nutrients work much like conditioners to add volume, shine and texture.

Mayo,
Mayo is particularly good known for be good on dealing with dry hair while moisturizing it, while giving it shine and body.
Mayonnaise contains eggs, vinegar or lemon juice, and oil. All three of these ingredients are good for moisturizing hair individually, and the combination will give you shiny curls. The thickness of mayonnaise helps coat your hair with these ingredients and can also work as a sealant on split ends.

Mix all the ingredients, the quantity will vary on your hair length.
On mine mix: one egg white 3 full spoon of yogurt and 2 of Mayo.. I always use natural mask as pre-poo.

Can Beer Wash Out a Relaxer? Beer hair Recipes / Puede la cerveza sacar el alisado del cabello? Recetas a base de cerveza

When I was a child I used to live in a very particular house, if I could  call it that way; there were 3 little houses in a row and we had to share the same patio and the same restroom and ohh boy the things you see when 3 Caribbean families share the same back yard: a little chicken farm, women in towels crossing by your door, boys brushing their teeth in the patio because of course the restroom was being used for someone else,, Viejas in rolos, and all kinds of funny things I could write a book about... One day when I was around 11 I opened up my back door and saw my neighbor pouring a beer on her hair; I asked, of course, we Dominicans can't just walk by and pretended like nothing is happening and is not our business, ohh no, we ask... And it was explained to me that she was tired of the relaxed hair and that the beer would wash it out, I was confused, I mean, I was waiting like for ever to have my hair relaxed and she wanted to wash it off? - My mom always said: you will get your hair relaxed when you turn 15.-

Does beer really wash out a relaxer?
I know all of you that want to have your hair curly again are waiting for a positive answer, but noooooo chicas, once you had your hair relaxed the only thing that will take it off/out is grow it out and cut  it little by little or all at once.

But beer is actually really good for your hair because of the protein in the malt and the hops in it. These proteins can bond with the individual hairs, strengthening, repairing and replenishing the hair making it soft and shiny.

Here are some recipes to try:
  1. Mix one teaspoon of jojoba oil and a cup of warm beer. Wash your hair as usual and rinse well. Pour the mixture of beer and jojoba oil into the hair. Massage it through. Let it set for a few minutes and then rinse with warm water. The beer adds body and the jojoba oil adds shine.
  2. Homemade beer shampoo is easy to make. Begin with a sulfate free shampoo. Pour one cup of it into a plastic squeeze bottle. Heat one and a half cups of beer in a pot. Bring to a boil and heat until the beer reduces to one-quarter cup. Cool the beer and add it to the shampoo. Shake to mix it. Use a small amount to wash your hair and rinse well. The beer will give hair shine and bounce. Store the shampoo in the refrigerator.
  3. Beer hair rinse mix 1/4 cup water, 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar and 1/4 cup beer  and use as a final rinse after conditioning, rinsing completely with warm water. Repeat every seven to 10 days.
Remember that healthy hair comes from the inside out, all these natural remedies works, but if you really want healthy, long, shinny hair: drink plenty of water, include protein to your diet and a multi-vitamin with iron (carry oxygen to hair), zinc (build hair protein), Copper (optimize hair color), Vitamin A (keep the scalp healthy), Vitamin B and C (help hair growth and color).

Have you ever used beer on your hair?
