Green, curly, healthy Kale/ Col Rizada y tus rizos

I most admit that I recently discover/taste the Kale, and right away I went on line to learn about its properties. Kale is usually mistaken for a vegetable, but its actually a leaf a curly leaf rich in vitamins, minerals and iron. Supposedly the iron found in Kale helps the body by carrying oxygen to all of the body's tissues. It also brings better blood flow to the scalp of your hair, which means that the hair will be more likely to grow longer faster and to have more strength .

Kale also is loaded with Beta carotene that is converted into vitamin A, which is necessary for all cell growth and turnover. Skimping on beta carotene can lead to dull, lifeless hair and dandruff, which is really just dry skin. So eating kale is one of the best ways to pack beta carotene into your diet for healthier natural hair.

You can add Kale to your smoothie, try this detox mix:

Pineapple juice (try to make your own)
1 lemon juice
Kale
Ginger
Ice (optional)
Blende well and enjoy

what about this easy salad?:
kale
strawberries
seasoned with lemon, balsamic vinegar, olive oil and salt
sprinkle with chia and sesame seed
Spice it up (If you have the budget) with smoke salmon.

**If you are looking for some crispy inspiration try Cut or tear fresh kale into pieces, place in a single layer on a baking sheet, mist with oil spray and bake at 400 degrees for about 10 minutes.

The Red Project; Healthy hair from the inside out. /Projecto Rojo; Cabello saludable de adentro hacia afuera

I always had certain hate for some red fruits, specially in juices. My mom used to do a mix of Beet root, carrot and orange juice and sometimes with oat meal. You can find this kind of juices at street vendors all over Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, drank usually by laborers to go throughout hard work till lunch time.
healthy hair ingredients
Recently I found out that my Mom and Grandmom were right about how good this juice is for our overall health and healthy hair, so I decided to include it in my diet and my journey to healthy long hair and fit body "Naturalfit" I call it.

So, Why Beets and Carrots?
Beets are high in carbohydrates, low in fat and it is an excellent source of folic acid. it is loaded with  beta-carotene, folic acid, chlorophyll, potassium, vitamin C, iron and antioxidants.

Carrot contains carotene, a chemical that is converted into vitamin A by the body, it can improve the appearance of the skin, hair and nails.
A rich diet in fruits and vegetables help promote heart health and help lower blood pressure.
Ingredients of my Red juice:
Beets, peels and cut into pieces
carrots, peeled and cut into pieces
Oat meal
Orange juice
Splenda, stevia or Honey
Spinach (opcional)
Beet/carrot juice

Nuts for Curls / Semillas y granos para un cabello saludable.

Part of my healthy, natural life is including new food to my diet and of course everything I eat I do a research in how it benefits my health and hair growth. Nuts are my favorite snack, because they are easy to carry, light weight and are powerfood that keep me full between meals and help maintain weight. Remember that most nuts are rich in healthy monounsaturated fats, so go easy on the portion (about one handful each day)

All nuts and seeds are rich in vitamin E, an antioxidant that helps keep your skin beautiful and may help protect your eyesight. The omega-3 fats, selenium, and zinc in some nuts and seeds offer similar benefits to the skin. Zinc, in particular, helps maintain collagen, which keeps your skin smooth, supple, and firm, and nails strong. Along with vitamin B6 and biotin, zinc contributes to healthy hair.
Weak hair is a sign of nutrient deficiency. It means there is lack of vitamin B6 and B12, folic acid, protein, vitamin C and water in your system. All these essential nutrients are found naturally in food. One such rich dietary source of nutrients for hair growth is nuts. As they are natural source, they don’t have side-effects
Some nuts are full of minerals that are necessary for the growth of healthy hair.
Nuts for Curls:
Almonds: Contains Vitamin B6, Magnesium, Zinc, Protein
Peanuts: Contains Protein, Zinc, Magnesium, Vitamin B6
Cashews: Contains Iron, Zinc, Vitamin B6, Protein
Walnuts: Contains Vitamin B, Protein, Magnesium, Omega3 Fatty acids, Alpha-linolenic acid
Pecan: Contains Zinc, Protein
Brazil nuts: Contains Selenium,Magnesium

A handful of nuts and sufficient water intake will surely speed up the hair growth process; Beauty Inside out
Nuts are also an excellent source of l-arginine, an amino acid often used as a topical application to treat male pattern baldness as well as to encourage the growth of healthy hair.
Nuts rich in L-arginine are hazelnuts, walnuts, cashes, almonds and pecans. L-arginine is also found in wheat germ, oatmeal, peanuts (not technically a nut) buckwheat, wheat flour, sunflower seeds, granola, coconut, sesame seeds, soybeans, pumpkin seeds and chick peas

Walnuts are  one of the best and healthiest  nuts for the scalp and hair.

Almonds, macadamia nuts, hazelnuts and pecans are other nuts which appear to be hair-healthy. Even peanuts, technically classified as a legume instead of a nut, seem to be relatively healthy.  Watch out for nuts covered in sugar, salt, chocolate or related toppings because their hair-healthy benefits is lost. Nut oils are also a very good source of omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin E. Walnut oil is the highest in omega-3s.   Nut oils contain saturated as well as unsaturated fats.

Are you nuts about curls? What is your favorite Nut?
