I was having a nice conversation with a friend, when she pulled me over to show me the great deals she has found at a store, She showed me an "Argan Oil" bottle that she got at a great price. My friend told me that she wanted to buy Argan oil for so long, but she put it on hold; until now.

I grabbed the bootle in my hands and started to read the label: in the front it said : ARGAN OIL in big bold letters, and in the back it was a totally different story. Company products know that everybody is crazy about Argan Oil (Not me, there are more affordable and amazing oils to use on my hair and body) so they label as such. But have you read the back? On this particular product,  (photo bellow) Argan oil it is not the main ingredient and it contains fragrance and more additives. Bottom line here is... READ the back of your beauty products, you will be surprised of what you can find.

If you want to buy any oil, make sure the only ingredient listed on it is the oil 100% Oil

Being natural seems to be synonym of Do It Your Self and that is the way it has been for me for 3 years, this allow me to know, love and understand my hair; but there is something about my past life -my relaxed hair life- that I miss a lot, and what I miss is being pampered at a salon, yet I feel that me and my curls don't fit into a salon anymore, just because I haven't found a salon that speaks curly hair.

• You will get one on one consultation with a professional that not only went to a beauty school, but before they can even get a chair at the salon, they have to start as an assistant and can get up to 2 years to have a distinction of being a Devachan certified stylist. The consultation takes up to 20 minutes where you can discuss where your hair came from, your habits, your expectations, tips, tricks and a lot of curly hair love. 
• The stylist will cut your hair while dry, one curl at a time "curl by curl" following each curls particular needs. Yes it can take while, specially if you have big hair like me.

"Let's Talk About About Hair" O Magazine Overview / Una hojeada a la Revista "O" Hablemos de cabello

Oprah posted a picture of her September "O" magazine cover and it goes viral. Why? First it is Oprah and second she was wearing a 3.5 pound big fro wig.

I got my hands on the "O" magazine September issue "Let's talk Hair", and I can tell you that if you still don't have it, go and get your own. The Magazine is totally a Hair Extravaganza, featuring Natural hair but most of all, the love for our roots, tips and tricks to have a great hair day. Oprah said herself that she is transitioning  and still has some relaxed hair, in the mean time, she is experimenting and exploring with her natural hair twisting, braiding, and letting it free.

Fake Or Real? BeautyBlender / Original o imitación? Esponja de maquillaje

Fake or real? this is the question, yes we all want to use the real deal, but this is not always possible, most the time working classes want to have the best of both worlds and settle for some imitation, is this worth it? 

When I first heard about the beautyblender, I was so amazed by it, but almost $30.00? seems like a lot of money for me, so I went on ebay and got a fake one, for less than $2.00, yes, I am cheap like that, was this worth it?

What is the beautyblender? Invented by top Hollywood make up artist Rea Ann Silva, Beautyblender has been created to leave you with a professional finish and a flawless complexion, elliptical shape makes application more easy by allowing you to access hard-to-reach areas. 

Is it worth it? Is it a good deal save $26 dollar?

Allow me to tell you my experience: I am all about saving and non-original items that do the job, but not this time bellas: the fake beautyblender was my first option, and oh, I was disappointed:

•  The fake one is harsh to my face, so hard that it is really difficult to use.
• The claim of flawless is not met by this fake beautyblender, it does not have edges but it is not as smooth and seamless as the original one.
• The bouncing  against your face when applying make up, that is one of the most amazing claims of the beauty blender, it was never achieved by my fake one. 
•  Beautyblender's pointed side is great for hard-to-reach spots like around the nose and mouth, and under the eyes( This can only can be met with the original one). The round base for foundation and blush on the larger areas of your face such as your forehead, cheeks and chin. 
• The original Beautyblender has an online support, with videos, how to use and even a recycle address to send your blender when you are ready for a new one.
• The original beautyblender is latex free, non-allergenic and odor free.
• The moment I tried my original beautyblender, was the moment I knew I what I was missing: smooth and flawless finished makeup.

WEN sweet Almond Mint Review / Reseña de los productos Wen

Hola bellas, yes finally a review, but not any review, I will be reviewing Wen sweet Almond Mint that I wanted to try for so long and I received a lot of questions about it. I tried the sweet Almond Mint Cleansing Conditioner, Sweet almond Anti-Frizz Styling Creme and the  sweet almond Re moist Intensive hair Treatment. For a reason that you will find out soon, I sent the products to my lovely curly hair prima Lidia in Boston so I can have a second opinion, just because my hair is crazy sometimes and doesn't like the really good products that it's supposed to like, lol

I went ahead and saw a few videos on youtube on how to use the products, first the cleansing conditioner, then the cleansing itself as leave-in conditioner. The first time I used it without the Hair mask or hair treatment, the second time with it. 

My thoughts:

• I really like the cleansing conditioner, I like the scent and the "cleansing " feeling, my problem with it, is that this is basically a simple a co-wash method, nothing else, so do I really need to buy an expensive conditioner to wash my big hair? if you take into consideration that I have a lot of hair, that  I do 2-3 co-washes a week, I will be broke in a few months. Don't get me wrong if you have the money, go for it, if you have fine hair, you will have no problem and this will definitely work for you.
• As a leave-in? like the comercial? NOOOO  At least not for my hair type, my hair was lack of moisture, dull, frizzy and all those bad stuff that happens to curly girls. Maybe it is a great alternative for fine straight hair, maybe.
• The Anti frizz was ok. but again not for my hair type, too light. it will be perfect to add shine to hair after the use of a flat iron or a blower.
• They all have great ingredients.
• The Hair treatment worked really good on my hair, so good that I didn't send it to my prima, lol 
• Why didn't I take pictures? because I was so mad at my hair for not liking WEN and looking like bird nest :( 

Ok, so maybe my hair is crazy, untamed, and a bird nest; Let me send the products all the way to Boston for a serious review. For this purpose, I just told my cousin that I had extra products and I will send them to her,, I didn't want her to think that I didn't like the products and influence her opinion. What do you think about the products Lidia?

I went ahead and tried The Wen Sweet Almond Mint cleansing conditioner and styling creme, I found that these work okay with my curly hair, but don’t provide the moisture and anti frizz that I ultimately need. I will recommend the Sweet Almond Mint to someone with fine hair. The products smell heavenly and leave a clean sensation after using them. I refused to believe that the Wen products were not going to work for me because I've heard so many good things about them, so I decided to give the Fig Cleansing Conditioner (another WEN formula) a try. The Fig Cleansing Conditioner made it for me. Anyone interested in using any Wen products needs to make sure that all the instructions are being followed and watch as many video tutorials as possible. I think that the products work, but you definitely need to educate yourself before using them so that you can get the most out of it. On these photos, I used the Fig cleansing conditioner, I applied the Fig styling cream to my dripping wet hair and styled it with Kinky Curly Curl Custard. Lidia F.

I am not going to discuss the ingredients on this post like I always do, just a few notes along each product review, but in this Pantene link you will find all the information you need. 

• The Clarifying Shampoo: it does contain sulfate on it, no parabens, great lather of course (that's what the sulfate is for). As I always say it is  just a shampoo that I wouldn't use on a regular basics because of  the sulfate on it. This shampoo will come in handy for the summer months to get rid of chlorine and salt water after a swim, it can also be used to remove products build up and give your hair a fresh start.
• Co-wash cleansing conditioner: I really like this co-wash conditioner, I don't really know how different it is from the other pantene conditioners that I already used and love, but the fact that this one is bigger and it will last longer. I was able to detangle my hair with it and it left my hair exactly the same as if I was using any regular conditioner to co-wash, in a good way.
• Deep conditioner: left my hair soft and hydrated and also detangled my hair. 
• Defining curls custard: This product is my favorite of the line -yes I love custards- left my hair soft and manageable, not hard, touchable; not that I want my hair to be touched, lol. This product even got my daughter's wavy hair with some curls on a wash and go method. 
• Shine Serum with Argan oil: I am not so crazy about serums in general because I feel that they are too soft for my hair and really never hydrated. This serum did provide some shine to my hair and my daughters hair when applying on wet/damn hair. I just wish this serum would be on a spray bottle so I can use it on my dry hair with minimum manipulation, you know what I mean?  A quick fix is to add it to your water spray bottle.. This serum will be great when I will straighten my hair

In general I like this products line, a very fair, affordable price, big bottles, mild scent.

My Thoughts: 

• You saw the ingredients, so if you are looking for a natural product line, this one is not for you, I do like the fact that they have no sulfate or paraben.
• The shampoo is just a regular shampoo, great lather and scent. 
• When it comes to the cleansing conditioner I was not so crazy about it because of the thick, sticky  texture of it, you will see no lather, same great scent, but I will rather use a regular conditioner to co-wash my hair. 
• The conditioner does the job, I noticed that the whole line works better on my daughters hair as their curls are looser than mine. It did detangle my daughters hair, but mine was a complete no
• The silk and dual oil care is my least favorite of the line, because as I found out after applying it to  my hair it has Gel on it  and left my curls a little hard and we all know I don't like that.. If you are a Gel fan, you will love this product.
• The leave-in is my favorite, it left my curls just the way I like them, hydrated, soft and defined. On my daughter 3a-b type curls was just amazing.
• I think it is a fair price and I am sure you soon will have it worldwide since L'oreal products are everywhere.

SheaMoisture Hair Color System, Review/Reseña

First watch the video, to see my live results☺. I was a little worried because it said clearly on the box "DO NOT USE ON HENNA COLORED HAIR" ahhhhh what if my hair turned purple or I get bald?lol. But I went for it anyway, and if you are asking yourself why this color system is not recommended after henna, and the possible consequences read this post where I break it down HERE.

Before I start, let me give you some of my facts:

• SheaMoisture did not pay me for this post (Not that I wouldn't take it, hhahhahha) but they did send me the hair color system for my editorial consideration, so if my hair turned purple or fall down it is my own responsibility.
• Do a strand test before using it. (I didn't)
• I sealed my hair with the Reconstructive Finishing elixir.
• I used the Raw Shea Restorative conditioner as a leave in
• After a while I decided to use a large brush and pour the color in a bowl; it was easy for long hair like mine.
• My hair got a lot darker and shinier.
• The color used was " Medium chestnut Brown" and two boxes was necessary to color my hair. All colors and details about this system HERE

What I love♥ ♥

Not strong, penetrated smell as the other color sytems.

The presentation of the boxes are just adorable and well focused to celebrate curly, natural hair.

The details is everything for me: the cute satin bag (it looks like a present), the little but enough sample products inside, the clear instructions.

The softness of the product is just AMAZING, my hair was so soft that at first I questioned if it really works, lol.

100% grey hair coverage.. 

I was ready to go in one hour, including drying my hair.

What I didn't love ☹ ☹

 To be honest with you I think SheaMoisture did a terrific job with this color system, and if I have to say something that I didn't like is that with henna I colored my hair with less that $5.00 and now I will be spending $30.00 (when a full color needed) or $14.99 for a Retouch, but if you consider that you will have shampoo, conditioner and Elixir for a few weeks, the deal is pretty good.

I will try to just say it once, but I don't know if I can help my self I LOVE THE SMELL of these products so, so much. Its like perfume for your hair. This product is amazing to refresh and hydrate second hair day, it makes my hair super duper soft. This will be one of my staple products for life.. A very useful tip to take the most out of this product is that I first sprayed my hair with my water mist and finished with this amazing product.

Amazing scent (again, lol) I like this product but I tried it several times as a style product with the super duper cream and it did not work for me as defining my curl, I also noticed a lack of shine. For this reason I decide to use it as a base for my defining cream and as a daily moisturizer. 

Ingredients: Purified Water, Jojoba, Avocado and Coconut Oils, Vegetable Wax, Panthenol, Arnica, Calendula, Echinacea, Nettle & Horsetail Extracts, Vegetable Glycerin, Wheat Germ Oil, Essential and/or Fragrance Oil, Ascorbic Acid & Vitamin E.

Something funny happened to me with this cream and the Gel, I was about to put it in the Never use again basket, because it just wasn't working for me, and one day I was looking at the products again and with a spatula I mixed around the product, and it was like magic; apparently some of the ingredients had settled down. This is not one of the best hair creams I have used but it's not one of the worst. If you read the ingredients you will notice all the good oils in it, but this is not an oily cream. Did I mention that I love the smell? :)

Ingredients: Shea Butter, Aloe Vera Gel, Argan Oil, Allantoin, Lecithin, Potassium Sorbate, Acai powder, Vegetable Wax, Vegetable Glycerin, Essential and/or Fragrance Oils & Vitamin E.

I had not tried this product and I will probably use it in the summer month, because I don't like the hard consistency of it, it's really, really hard and since my apartment is very cold, taking it out will require major work. (please leave me your own review on the comments box)

This gel has a light-medium hold. Please notice that I only use gel on my edges, so I can't give you a review on style :( I also added leaving and a few drops of oil to make it smoother.

I don't forget the scent, lol I can't find it, for me it is unscented which is awesome to use it in conjunction with other product lines. This Deep treatment is one of my favorite so far, super soft, it left my hair feeling like butter. I had only got this result on my hair with  Professional Salon products. LOVEeeeee it.

An Interactive book to teach kids to love their Natural Hair " The Big Hair Book", review +giveaway / "Big Hair" libro intercativo para ninas que resalta la belleza del cabello rizo/Afrotextura

I remember the first time I blogged about the release of this interactive children's book app for the iphone, ipad and ipod touch (post here) I didn't have a mac or iphone or iPad back then (yes I was in the shadows, lol) and the author told me that the book will be available in paperback, I ain't gonna lie to you I have all those devises now, but my family enjoys "old fashioned " books a lot.
