Devanchan cut experience "DEVACUT"/Mi experiencia en Devachan, Soho NY

Being natural seems to be synonym of Do It Your Self and that is the way it has been for me for 3 years, this allow me to know, love and understand my hair; but there is something about my past life -my relaxed hair life- that I miss a lot, and what I miss is being pampered at a salon, yet I feel that me and my curls don't fit into a salon anymore, just because I haven't found a salon that speaks curly hair. 

I knew about the Devachan salon in NY for a long time now, and being there was one of dreams - I didn't know they have one in California too- Anyways, I was gonna be in NY, so I knew I had to be sitting in one of those Devachan salon chairs, and so I did.

It is not a cheap salon and that is clear, so is it worth it? Are they "that good? Do they really speak curly hair? Those are the type of questions I get all the time, the same questions I couldn't answer before, but now I can.

Here I go:

• It is not a cheap salon, no it is not, the prices for a hair cut vary depending on the stylist you choose : Senior or Junior; the Senior price can go for up to $190 for a hair cut, this will include wash and style. Now listen to me, this will be the best expense of your curly life:
• You will get one on one consultation with a professional that not only went to a beauty school, but before they can even get a chair at the salon, they have to start as an assistant and can get up to 2 years to have a distinction of being a Devachan certified stylist. The consultation takes up to 20 minutes where you can discuss where your hair came from, your habits, your expectations, tips, tricks and a lot of curly hair love. 
• The stylist will cut your hair while dry, one curl at a time "curl by curl" following each curls particular needs. Yes it can take while, specially if you have big hair like me.

• When your stylist finishes with you the assistant washed your hair -this assistant already knows your name and your curly hair story- the wash area is a dream come true (see the pictures below, because I don't know enough english to describe it, lol) they wash your hair like if you were a princess, slowly, feeling your curls, massaging your scalp,(and then I fell asleep), the detangling process begins using only their hands (thanks Pedro, you are the best), yes finger comb, how amazing is this?. 
• Then the stylist styles your hair in the most magnificent way possible, using the deva curls products according to your needs.
• While I was there I felt in curly hair paradise: homemade tea in a tall glass, ipads with wifi, curly hair all over the place, beautiful atmosphere, exquisite decor, well dressed stylists, and much more to make you feel like a curly girl princess.
  

Is it worth it? YESSSSSSSS, because this is something that you only need to do a couple of times a year, they give you all the tricks and tips to make your haircut and fabulous curly hair last longer. I think of Devachan Cut as an investment and a gift to myself that I deserve and will be doing at least once a year if the budget is tight, because I am worth it. 

Are they that good? no they are not, "THEY ARE THE BEST"

I wanted a hair cut to give my hair some shape, but I didn't wanna loose the length, but at the end, my hair looked even longer; that is the power of a good hair cut.

The hair color is as crafty as the hair cut, my colorist Rachel Urrico (love her) told me that my color was perfect, so she just did a touch up and painted some lighter color here and there to add light to my hair.

El tener el cabello rizado parece ser sinónimo de hacerlo todo una misma, y este ha sido mi caso por tres años y me ha ido de maravilla, esto me permite conocer, amar y entender mi cabello, pero hay algo que extraño de mi vida pasada - la del cabello alisado - y es, el ir a un salón que me mimen, mas sin embargo siento que yo y mis rizos no cabemos en un salón de belleza, o tal vez no habia encontrado uno que hable mi propio idioma, uno que hable rizos. 

Ya sabia del salón Devachan en su localidad de New York  y estar allí era uno mis sueños - no sabia que tienen uno en California también - De todas formas yo iba a estar en Nueva York, y de una vez me imagine sentada en una de las sillas del salón Devachán , y así lo hice.

No es un salón barato, eso está claro, pero vale la pena? Son de verdad  tan buenos? Estas son unas de las preguntas que siempre he hacen ustedes, y claro yo no podía responderlas, pero ahora si. 

Aquí voy :

• No es un salón barato, no, no lo es, los precios de un corte de cabello varían dependiendo de la estilista que elijas: Senior o Junior, el precio puede ir hasta $190 por un corte, esto incluye lavado y estilo. Ahora bien, esta será la mejor y la mas inteligente decisión de tu vida rizada.
• Una vez sentada en la silla, recibirás consulta personalizada con un profesional que no sólo fue a una escuela de belleza, pero antes de tener el privilegio de tocar tu cabello y tener una silla como estilista, tienen que comenzar como asistente y pasar hasta 2 años antes de tener la distinción de estar certificado Devachan. La consulta toma hasta 20 minutos en la cual hablaran sobre tus rizos, tus hábitos, expectativas, consejos, trucos y sobre todo mucho amor rizado. 
• El estilista cortara tu cabello seco, rizo por rizo, siguiendo la necesidad individual de cada espiral, Sí, esto puede tomar tiempo, especialmente si tienes un greñero como yo .
• Cuando tu estilista ha terminado, la asistente lava tu cabello -este asistente ya sabe tu nombre y la historia de tu cabello- la zona de lavado es un sueño hecho realidad (vean las foto, porque no tengo suficiente palabras para describirlo) te lavan el cabello como si fueras una princesa , poco a poco , sintiendo tus rizos , masajeando el cuero cabelludo (yo hasta me dormí). El proceso de desenredar es totalmente manual, usando sólo solo sus dedos (gracias Pedro, eres el mejor); sí leíste bien, no peines, solo sus dedos.
• A continuación, el estilista, le da los toques finales a tu cabello, de la manera mas maravillosa y espectacular posible, usando los productos Deva Curls de acuerdo a tus necesidades.
• Mientras yo estaba allí me sentía en el paraíso del cabello rizado: un té hecho en casa en un copa de cristal, ipads con wifi, cabello rizado rizado por doquier, de todos los colores y texturas, un espacio hermoso, una atmósfera perfecta el lugar, la decoración exquisita, estilistas bien vestidos, y mucho más para que te sientas como una princesa rizada.

Vale la pena ? Yessssssss , porque esto es algo que sólo tienes que hacer un par de veces al año; te dan todos los trucos y consejos para hacer que tu corte de cabello y peinado duren más. Creo que el corte en Devachan salon es una inversión y un regalo a ti mismo, un regalo que mereces. Y si nuestro presupuesto es ajustado? hacerlo una vez al año, porque yo y tu lo valemos.

¿Son tan buenos? No, no lo son "son los mejores "

Yo quería un corte de cabello, para darle un poco de definición, pero sin perder la longitud , al final mi cabello se ve aún más largo, esto es lo que llamo, el entenderme y quererme cambiar :)

Si no estas segura de si esto es algo que puedes pagar, no hay problema, simplemente llama y obtener una consulta y presupuesto sin compromiso.

La forma de darle color al cabello en Devachan salon es igual de manual y personalizado, mi colorista Rachel Urrico ( la ame) me dijo que mi color era perfecto, por lo que solo me retoco las orillas (si, ya saben, por las canas) y pinto uno que otro rizo para darle un poco de luz y modernidad.

Mi cámara se quedo sin batería, así que les debo mas fotos; se las subo esta semana.
