Can Beer Wash Out a Relaxer? Beer hair Recipes / Puede la cerveza sacar el alisado del cabello? Recetas a base de cerveza

When I was a child I used to live in a very particular house, if I could  call it that way; there were 3 little houses in a row and we had to share the same patio and the same restroom and ohh boy the things you see when 3 Caribbean families share the same back yard: a little chicken farm, women in towels crossing by your door, boys brushing their teeth in the patio because of course the restroom was being used for someone else,, Viejas in rolos, and all kinds of funny things I could write a book about... One day when I was around 11 I opened up my back door and saw my neighbor pouring a beer on her hair; I asked, of course, we Dominicans can't just walk by and pretended like nothing is happening and is not our business, ohh no, we ask... And it was explained to me that she was tired of the relaxed hair and that the beer would wash it out, I was confused, I mean, I was waiting like for ever to have my hair relaxed and she wanted to wash it off? - My mom always said: you will get your hair relaxed when you turn 15.-

Does beer really wash out a relaxer?
I know all of you that want to have your hair curly again are waiting for a positive answer, but noooooo chicas, once you had your hair relaxed the only thing that will take it off/out is grow it out and cut  it little by little or all at once.

But beer is actually really good for your hair because of the protein in the malt and the hops in it. These proteins can bond with the individual hairs, strengthening, repairing and replenishing the hair making it soft and shiny.

Here are some recipes to try:
  1. Mix one teaspoon of jojoba oil and a cup of warm beer. Wash your hair as usual and rinse well. Pour the mixture of beer and jojoba oil into the hair. Massage it through. Let it set for a few minutes and then rinse with warm water. The beer adds body and the jojoba oil adds shine.
  2. Homemade beer shampoo is easy to make. Begin with a sulfate free shampoo. Pour one cup of it into a plastic squeeze bottle. Heat one and a half cups of beer in a pot. Bring to a boil and heat until the beer reduces to one-quarter cup. Cool the beer and add it to the shampoo. Shake to mix it. Use a small amount to wash your hair and rinse well. The beer will give hair shine and bounce. Store the shampoo in the refrigerator.
  3. Beer hair rinse mix 1/4 cup water, 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar and 1/4 cup beer  and use as a final rinse after conditioning, rinsing completely with warm water. Repeat every seven to 10 days.
Remember that healthy hair comes from the inside out, all these natural remedies works, but if you really want healthy, long, shinny hair: drink plenty of water, include protein to your diet and a multi-vitamin with iron (carry oxygen to hair), zinc (build hair protein), Copper (optimize hair color), Vitamin A (keep the scalp healthy), Vitamin B and C (help hair growth and color).

Have you ever used beer on your hair?

Tomatoes for long healthy hair / Los tomates y tu cabello

I am a product junkie, But I also like to experiment with the ingredients that mother nature has to offer. I cook 3 times a day anyway, so it is very easy for me to experiment with natural ingredients. While I was doing a tomato salad, something came to my mind: are Tomatoes good for my hair, lol can I use it on it?

Tomatoes are actually a fruit and not a vegetable. However, since it’s not as sweet as other fruits and is most often served as main dish, most people think that tomatoes are a vegetable. Tomatoes are loaded with vitamins A, B2, C and E, minerals: Sodium, calcium, iron, copper, potassium, phosphorous, magnesium, manganese and zinc. The red tomato has a lot of vitamin c and antioxidants that helps purify the hair and can be used to remove products build up...

You can apply tomatoes to your hair in a variety of ways, tomato paste, sauce or even tomato juice should work wonders. The acidity in the tomatoes helps to balance the Ph levels in your hair, bringing back its natural color, smell and stop hair falling. Tomato paste also acts as a good conditioner for the hair and brings the  natural shine to the hair.

Tomatoes mixed with chamomile tea will leave your hair soft, manageable and promote hair growth. Helps define your curls.

Say bye bye to Split ends "DIY mask" / Dile adios con a las puntas abiertas..

Say Adios to those split ends with this easy, Three ingredients Home made hair mask.

Mix egg yolk with 3 tbsp Extra virgin olive oil and 1 tbsp honey (double or triple these ingredients according to your hair length)
Gently massage this mask into your hair, You can cover with a plastic shower cap, but I don't like to heat my eggs based homemade mask,  do what you like...
Leave it on for a a hour or so and follow with a Sulfate free shampoo.

Why are these ingredients good for your hair?
Eggs: Contain lecithin and protein that helps Strengthen and moisturize hair. Egg yolks are a natural emulsifier Also, meaning it binds homemade hair mask ingredients together for a smooth, homogeneous mixture. Also Yolks have a high sulfur content, Which can help highlight dandruff symptoms.
Olive Oil: olive oil improves the elasticity of your hair. As a result, you will see less hair breakage,  The use of olive oil hair treatments will condition and nourish your hair, causing it to glisten and shine. It also reduces frizz and hair static, which can also cause hair breakage.
Honey:Honey contains vitamins, minerals, is antibacterial, acts as a humectant (attracts moisture), and has incredible healing properties.
