Changing shampoos and conditioners every season to meet your hair's changing needs—sports, sun, and dry heat all create different hair challenges. Even if your hair is in great shape, treat yourself to a deep-conditioning treatment at least once a month.
In Spring, there’s a transition from the dryness of winter to the moisture from the rain and the impending humidity of the summer. I would back down from the heavier conditioners using lighter ones. Begin to protect the hair from the increased expose to the sun. Keep the cuticle sealed, so it won’t absorb the moisture in the air.
In Summer, on the other hand, we have the heat and most cases added humidity. Due to the rise in temperature, the cuticle will swell and the hair fills with moisture if humid. This will cause the hairs to separate from each other making it frizzy and unruly. Use products with UV protectants and pH restoring qualities to help close the cuticle.
In Fall, the moisture is lifting from the air and dryness is setting in. It might be necessary to remove chlorine or heal sun damage. Begin using slightly heavier conditioner to get your hair ready for the winter.
If you need to put your natural hair products on hold, try storing them in the refrigerator.
