I am always looking for healthy options for me and my family, and this is a really tough job, because we all know that men and children are not always open to the unknown, lol. But I manage to have them eat my "creations" how they call it :)
I came across Quinoa on a website and was amazed on how good it was for my overall heath and my hair I had included this miracle "mother grain" (named this way by the Aztec and Mayan) into my diet..
Why its good for you?
- Quinoa has a higher protein content than wheat, barley or other major grains. One cup of quinoa has 9 grams, which trumps the protein-rich egg (6 grams).
- Quinoa, which contains all 8 of the essential amino acids, is a complete protein. Quinoa is a satisfying, low-cholesterol source of complex carbohydrates. Rich in fiber, it’s digested slowly and has a low glycemic indexAs a complex carbohydrate, quinoa acts an internal cleanser, easing the progress of food through the digestive tract.
- Used regularly in your diet, quinoa can help keep you free of constipation and bloating. Unlike more common grains such as wheat, quinoa is gluten-free and can be enjoyed by people with digestive disorders
- Quinoa is prepared in a similar way to cook rice, but only replaces the quinoa in rice dishes and you will enjoy countless delicious recipes using this super food that is not fattening.
For Healthy Hair.
Whole Grains are loaded with Protein and Vitamin E. Since hair is made mostly of protein, a diet rich in protein will aid in strengthening your strands from the inside out "beauty inside out". This results in stronger, healthier and longer hair. Vitamin E helps with balancing your production of natural oils, so your scalp and strands stay properly moisturized. Quinoa is a powerful choice as a super food for hair growth because it contains high levels of both Protein and Vitamin E! This particular whole grain has a stronger nutritional value than rice, containing loads more essential vitamins and minerals, and cooks in less time.
You can find Quinoa anywhere, even at the 99c store, its super easy and fast to cook. I like mine firm "al dente" so I just boiled it for a couple of minutes, you can add pretty much anything..
This was the last Quinoa salad I made, if you follow me on Instagram you probably saw it @dailycurlz delicious, nutritional and healthy:
